One Room At A Time
It's time to reopen the doors to the House of Brissi, one room at a time.
When we founded Brissi two decades ago we could never have imagined that, almost twenty years on, we would be sat here preparing to reopen Brissi as an online business in the midst of a global pandemic. But here we go.
Building up Brissi, from our first shop housed inside a 17th-century furniture workshop in Wiltshire that stocked a unique mix of homeware, antiques and curios, was always going to be an adventure with many highs and lows. We went on to open stores across London - King’s Road, Marylebone High Street, Richmond, Battersea, Fulham, Notting Hill - and later a flagship in the world heritage city of Bath, set in a five storey Georgian townhouse with a walled courtyard café loved by locals and visitors alike.
We thrived on the experience of being shopkeepers, working alongside a team of staff that felt like family and feeling incredibly lucky to have the most wonderful community of customers.
It was an absolutely heartbreaking moment when we had to close all of Brissi’s stores in 2019. But ever-rising rents meant it was time to rethink the company and decide on the best way to both remain independent and adapt to changing times.
And little did we know it at the time, but things were only going to get tougher. After a long winter of quiet reflection, the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic took hold and a nationwide lockdown began.
It was during this time that we both realised that the home was more important than ever and began feeling a renewed confidence in what Brissi stands for. The passion we share for travel and interiors, having both lived and worked around the world has not waned. Our pleasure at seeing our products in people's homes will never cease.
So we're going back to our foundations and starting a new chapter for Brissi that's grounded in craftsmanship and accessibility, creating timeless pieces for the home which celebrate places close to our hearts.
We hope you'll join us, as we reopen the doors to the House of Brissi.
With love,
Arianna & Siobhán
